‘Complete online payment of scholarships soon’

‘Complete online payment of scholarships soon’

Kakinada: Joint Collector K. Sasidhar has instructed the officials of the Backward Class, Social and Tribal Welfare departments to complete the on-line payment of scholarships and fee reimbursements at the earliest by properly coordinating with the bankers. Eighty per cent of the payments have been made till now by overcoming the technical snags that developed in the computer networking systems with the help of experts from the National Informatics Centre.

The current focus is on fully disbursing the scholarships and reimbursing the fee to eligible students without further delay.

Addressing a review meeting on the issue on Thursday, Mr. Sasidhar said the bankers and other officials concerned have to reconcile the data in order to quickly make the payments as the district lagged behind others. A sum of Rs. 21 crore has been earmarked for BC students who have been just included in the scheme and nearly Rs. 7.78 crore in respect of renewals.

The sum allocated for fee reimbursement for newly enrolled students was put at Rs. 12.95 crore and Rs. 8.25 crore in the case of renewal.

All kinds of payments have to be made by Saturday, failing which appropriate action would be taken against the derelict officials.

Lead bank manager A. Shanmukha Chari, Joint Director of Social Welfare P.S.A. Prasad , District Tribal Welfare Officer Mallikarjuna Reddy, District BC Welfare Officer S.K. Annapoorna and others were present.
